Unofficial, Pre-Cut NCAA Women's Division I Psych Sheet Posted -- March 2, 2010

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, March 2. THE folks at Colorado Time Systems have posted the unofficial, pre-cut, NCAA Women's Division I Championships Psych Sheet. The final list of competitors will be revealed tomorrow.

This pre-cut psych sheet is provided as a service for coaches to double-check the accuracy of the information being used to create the final field.

If you want to get a head start in looking at where particular times fall on the psych sheet, check out the list here.

Updated information will be posted to the above link throughout the next day and a half.

In sum, 101 teams submitted entries for 845 different student-athletes. The NCAA will whittle this number down to 322 participants, including 41 spots set aside for divers to be decided by zone championships in the coming weeks.

March 3, 2010 Where is Julia Smit in 200 Backstroke? She is not on the list. Instead, listed on 100 Free.

March 3, 2010 Well this is unofficial, but it doesn't surprise me, either. Assuming Spofforth has a similar drop as last year's in the 200 back, Smit may actually have as good or even a better chance of winning the 100 free than the 200 back. It's a bit of a gamble given how tightly packed the 100 free leaders are, but alot less grueling, given Smit's heavy schedule already with both IM's and all the relays. She's on a roll, and given her momentum and experience, I'd consider her the 100 free favorite above and beyond the small margin she leads by in the seedings.

March 3, 2010 I have scored the unofficial psych sheet and it is a pretty exciting meet. This is only based on the swimming events, it doesn't include potential points in the diving.

March 3, 2010 Smit is fastest nationally in BOTH the 100 free (47.70r), a time three tenths faster than Hannah Wlson's wining 48.02 100l and 1:50.76 for thebckstroke.

In considering how much Spofforth ma drop from her "sluggish" SEC times remember last year she had the shiny suit advantage [as did Smit]. This year the playing field is mas level.

Will be interesting

Smit's 200 back time incidentally is not only No. 1 nationally for season but also a Pac-10 Championships record.

Who (whom?) you mite ask is the old record-holder?

Hww 'bout a certain former Golden Bear whose name escapes me for the moment but is the ONLY American woman to ever
win back-to-back Olympic 100 back golds if you catch my drift and who will be making her post-Beijing competitive debut this weekend in Austin.

She went a 1:50.90 @ Belmont eight years ago, a time that was then also the American record.

Now what's her name again?

March 3, 2010 yeah 200 back with Smit vs. Spofforth would been great, but 200 back is such a killer!! It's amazing Smit went 1:50.7 on the last day after the 2-4 IMs and the relays. Remember with Coughlin, though her time was also amazing, the 200 Back was her longest event, I think. And she hated it. 100 free is gonna be equally exciting. Thanks for scoring the psych sheets, Teamwiess. The shocking one on there to me was Auburn in only 10th place; do they have good divers? Theu recruited Dagny Knutson just in time..
